Lexus Hybrid Technology

2023 Lexus RX charging at a station

When people think of hybrid vehicles, most immediately think of the original Toyota Prius, the pioneer of mainstream hybrid vehicles. So it’s definitely no surprise then that when it comes to hybrid luxury vehicles, Toyota’s upmarket vehicle brand, Lexus, is a leader in hybrid luxury vehicle technology. In recent years, the Lexus lineup has increasingly offered more and more hybrid versions of their most popular models. From the original RX 400h that started the hybrid luxury SUV segment in the mid-2000s, to the stylish and futuristic LC 500h grand touring sports coupe, the Lexus brand has truly cemented itself as a leader in the hybrid luxury vehicle segment. Continue reading below to learn more about the advanced hybrid technology that modern hybrid Lexus vehicles come equipped with.

Self-Charging Vehicles

Lexus Self-Charging Hybrid Electric vehicles seamlessly combine technologically advanced gasoline engines with a powerful battery and even more powerful electric motors. These systems have been designed to automatically select the best combination of gas and electric propulsion, based on your specific driving needs. As the battery re-charges both during driving and braking, you never need to take the time to plug-in, and visits to the gas pump will occur less and less often when compared to a conventional gas-powered Lexus vehicle.

Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles

Similar to Lexus Hybrid Electric vehicles, Lexus Plug-in Hybrid Electric technology also seamlessly blends two power sources – an advanced gasoline engine and a powerful electric motor. With a larger battery, and the ability to plug-in, owners can travel faster and further in electric mode alone. Currently available in the 2023 NX 450h+, EV or electric-only mode allows drivers to maximize battery use and provides up to 61 km of all-electric range. The NX 450h+’s advanced 18.1 kWh lithium-ion battery also allows drivers to enjoy instant acceleration, near-silent driving, and the ability to reach speeds of up to 135 km/h.

Current Hybrid Lexus Model Lineup

For the 2023 model year, customers can choose from a wide range of available hybrid Lexus models. The most affordable way for drivers to get behind the wheel of a hybrid Lexus vehicle is through the UX 250h compact crossover SUV. Drivers who need an SUV that’s slightly larger than the Lexus UX should consider the newly redesigned Lexus NX and its two hybrid variants. For those who require a vehicle with more passenger and cargo room, the popular Lexus RX midsize SUV and its two highly efficient models are the ideal choice.

When it comes to hybrid sedans, the Lexus brand offers two luxurious and well-appointed models. The mid-side Lexus ES 300h is a newly refreshed mid-size luxury sedan that provides passengers with a luxurious cabin experience while returning fuel economy metrics that rival that of small compact sedans. The full-size Lexus 500h executive sedan pulls out all the stops with its modern technology and artisanally crafted interior cabin. For those looking for an efficient, yet stylish and dynamic handling vehicle, look no further than the futuristic Lexus LC 500h. This two door grand touring coupe features a sleek exterior design, a finely crafted interior cabin with high-end material finishes and an extremely comfortable driving experience.
