Behind the Wheel of the Lexus GS
Outside, Looking At
With its low center of gravity and redesigned front fascia, the Lexus GS looks sculpted and muscular, ready for the road. The Spindle Grille, satin chrome finish, revised LED headlamps, and LED daytime running lights complement the bold look and sharp edges we’re sure you’ll like when you see the Lexus GS for yourself. The rear design is striking too with the same L-Shaped LED lamps that help give the Lexus GS the distinguished Lexus look we’ve become so familiar with. And the GS’s beautiful mica colours like Nightfall Mica are applied using a multi-layered, twice-baked process reserved for concept and custom cars—and now, your new Lexus GS.
Inside, Looking Around
Wrap yourself in rich, cream hues and browns with luxury leather abound and handcrafted contrast switching. Warm ambient lighting and three types of wood trim, along with soft-touch materials, remind you every moment that you’re driving a Lexus. And a classic, classy analog clock carved from a single bar of aluminum reminds you that you’re driving the one-of-a-kind 2016 Lexus GS.
A heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel puts paddle shifters and integrated audio controls right at your fingertips. Also, remote Touch makes it easy to adjust your entertainment settings and navigate with the 12.3″ LCD Display.
As for the technology, have you ever even heard of a HUD in a vehicle? A heads-up display projects real-time driving info onto the lower side of the windshield, and helps you keep your eyes on the road. You’ll also have a very sophisticated entertainment system in your GS, and tons of options including a 17-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound audio system (standard on the 450 Hydrid).
Under the Hood
311 horsepower in the 350 AWD and 338 (net) in the 450 Hybrid means you’ve got the power you need for driving anywhere throughout Royal Oak. The 3.5L V6 in the 350 combines direct fuel injection with additional port injectors to push 310 horsepower and give you perfect responsiveness. The 450 features the second-generation Lexus Hybrid Drive technology to give you the option and benefit of selecting electric-only driving for the best possible fuel economy and a quiet ride. Or you can combine the motors to pump out power that can get you from 0-100km/h in only 5.6 seconds.
With the 6-speed sequential shift automatic transmission, you can choose between Normal, Eco, Sport and Snow driving modes, making and GS a versatile vehicle for any Canadian climate. The GS also features all-wheel drive and, if the vehicle slips on ice, the system employs TRAC control to redistribute power and regain traction.
